About

Built around the fire.

Bonfiyah, Inc. is a Delaware corporation building an AI conversation memory app for iPhone, iPad & Mac. One Apple ecosystem, synced. One core idea — that the conversations you have are stories worth keeping, and the place those stories live should feel less like a database and more like a fire.

Why we exist

In a world where AI-generated communication is becoming the norm, we believe Humanity will evolve the other way — toward Truth and Authenticity, found in real, in-person human conversation.

Bonfiyah is an app built for Humanity — and for the future of Truth and Authentic Communication.

Origin

Why "Bonfiyah."

Long before written language, the bonfire was where humans gathered to tell stories. People sat around it, talked, listened, remembered. The fire was a recording technology — imperfect, communal, durable.

"Bonfiyah" is a play on "bonfire." The product is what happens when the gathering tradition meets modern AI: every conversation you have is a story worth keeping, and the place those stories live should feel less like a database and more like a fire.

The orange and amber of the icon — sampled from the inside of a real flame — is the brand color for the same reason. It's warm. It draws people in. It's not a "tech" color.

The commitments

Three things Bonfiyah will always be.

Software companies usually shape themselves by what they add. Bonfiyah commits to a few specific things and ships against them.

Apple-only.

iPhone, iPad and Mac, all in sync — iPad and Mac via Catalyst. Going deep on one ecosystem is what lets us ship a live recording Dynamic Island and Home Screen widgets — Flag / Quiet / Stop and a capture meter without unlocking, free in every tier — on-device live captioning via Apple Speech, real-time iCloud sync, and the polish you feel using the app.

If you need cross-platform, Otter and Notta exist; we won't pretend to be that.

Privacy-binding.

Twelve specific privacy commitments operationalised in code or contract — not policy alone. We don't train on your transcripts, ever. There's no cross-account voice search, by architecture. Audio auto-purges from our servers within seven days — after that it lives in your iCloud Drive on your Apple ID, not on our infrastructure (we can't hand a subpoena what we don't have). Voice fingerprints auto-purge after 90 days of inactivity. Every one of these is enforced where it lives — by configuration, by our model-training opt-out and agreements with AssemblyAI and Anthropic, and by the structure of the database itself.

Consent-first.

Other recording apps treat consent as the user's problem. Bonfiyah builds per-speaker consent management as a first-class feature, in every tier including Free, because making it a paid upsell would be tasteless. Recording someone without their consent is a category of harm we don't want any of our users to drift into.

Why Pro AI exists

The category sells summaries. We sell what comes after.

The category — "AI conversation app" — is full of products that summarize meetings. Summaries are the easy demo. They tell you what was discussed; they don't tell you what mattered.

The harder, more useful work happens at the cross-recording layer: tracking commitments across meetings, catching contradictions across weeks, briefing you before the next conversation with the same person, building a profile of how each person you talk to communicates. Pro AI is the tier that does that work.

$34.99/month standard ($24.99/month for the first 60 days as an intro) is more than the category leader. The math is honest: cross-recording inference costs more than per-recording summarization. Pro AI runs eighteen cross-recording AI surfaces across your full library — Proactive Notifications, AI Project Context, Compatibility Analysis, Team Dynamics, MBTI Compatibility, Ray Dalio Pointillist Painting, Mach-IV (Machiavellianism), Daily Brief, Bonfire Pulse (weekly 10-Principles-of-Burning-Man self-portrait), Founder Insights (weekly six-dimension mirror on operator posture), Promise Tracker, Truth Layer, Pre-Brief, People Memory, Story Mode, Speaker Themes, Project Actions, and the new in-app Help AI (conversational assistant on every screen, your-data-grounded, with structured tool proposals). None of those have analogues in Otter, Notta, or Plaud.

The 60-day intro window plus a 7-day automatic free trial of the next tier on every signup is so you can decide whether the work being done is worth the price for you.

Cadence

Always shipping.

Bonfiyah doesn't publish a roadmap. New surfaces ship continuously and land in the app — when you open Bonfiyah after a new release, you'll see what's new. The changelog records every shipped release.

If something you wish Bonfiyah did isn't there yet, email [email protected] — most of what ends up shipping started as a conversation with a user.

Founder note

Richard Hearn.

I've been building and implementing software for 20+ years. Bonfiyah is the product I would have wanted ten years ago, and the product I want now.

Reach me at [email protected] — you'll get a real reply. Bug reports and feature requests go through the in-app feedback flow; they reach me on the same cadence and most ship the same week.
